2.7L LONG BONNET 911 READY FOR IMPROVEMENT

With most Classic Cars, the First Generation of a model are Often the Purest of Design, with Striking Silhouettes, Unmarred by ‘Updates’ Required to Pass newer Regulations, the Long Bonnet 911 is a Great Example of this, with the 911’s ‘Updated’ in 1974 with Impact Bumpers to meet American Regulations.

These ‘Pure’ Long Bonnet 911’s have seen a Large Growth in their Fan Base, with many Seeing Them as the True 911’s. Previously Seen as Just the Earlier, Slower and Smaller Engined Models in the 911 Range, their Popularity has now Flipped and Consequently the Demand has Grown Exponentially.

This US Specification 1970 911T was Imported into Australia in 1998, and Still Retains its Original Left Hand Drive Specification, however its Original 2.2L Engine has been Replaced by a Later, 1975 911S 2.7L Engine, Increasing the Factory Output by 40% from 125bhp to 175bhp.

The Bosch “K Jetronic” Fuel Injection Controlled 2.7L Flat Six was Mated to the 2.2L’s ‘911’ 5 Speed Dogleg Manual Gearbox, Providing an Authentic Feel whilst still having the Greater Performance Potential of the Uprated Engine in the Lightweight Early 911 Body.

Subject to a Recent Full Repaint in ‘Guards Red’ this 911T has Fantastic Eye Appeal with its 14” Fuchs Wheels Completing the Package. The Interior Trim is Worn, but Complete some 50 Years down the line.

Mechanically this 911T has Maintained Well, with Updated 3.2 Carrera Chain Tensioners Fitted, and the Front Shocks Just Rebuilt, however the 2.7L Engine is Now Showing Signs of its Age, and when Paired to the Clutch, which is No Longer Throwing As Far as it Used To, this Long Bonnet 911 is Ready for Some Revitalisation.
